Independence Park Rededication Celebration

We cordially invite you to join us in our Independence Park Rededication Celebration on Saturday, May 30 at 10 a.m.

From the summer of 2025 till present day, we have completed a significant number of renovations and updates.

This includes updates to parking lot, new shelter roofs and paint, a new gazebo, new landscaping, new trees planted, pickleball courts, a new 9-foot-wide trail and story walk system, and an overall cleanup.

All of the above construction (approximate $250,000) has been financed by revenue generated by Johnson County Parks & Recreation. A special thank you goes out to the Johnson County Commissioners for funding the construction of the new pickleball courts last year.

Independence Park located at 2100 South Morgantown Road, Greenwood, IN 46143

This park was developed and constructed in 2000 with help of over 200 businesses, civic organizations, and individuals. Independence Park is park located in White River Township, and it hosts thousands of visitors each year. This 13.5-acre park boasts Indiana's first all-accessible playground area for persons with disabilities. The Park accommodates a variety of interests, especially those who enjoy outdoor activities on the paved trail system / story walk, on the playground and on the ball courts! The park also has three rentable shelters (Case, REMC & Bargersville Utility) to use for family activities and greenspace to play in. The main gazebo provides a great free communal space for everyone to get out of the sun and enjoy a picnic with friends and family; all while listening to the soothing sounds of the Sound play Music Equipment. Free community events such as Movie in the Park and Carni-Fall are held at Independence Park.
